Volunteer With Us
Below are brief summaries of many of the roles required to make each Extra Mile Pediatrics field team impactful for our patients and their families. Please note that there are opportunities to involve both medical and non-medical volunteers! We also provide training and guidance along the way… so you will feel well-prepared, regardless of your experience level!
Registration
Often run by non-medical volunteers, this team greets each family, starts their chart process and gathers information and measurements from patients.
Nursing
This team begins the patient assessments.. vitals, focused exams, and administers antiparasitics… before guiding the patient to the appropriate provider for their exam
Providers
We have had amazing volunteer MDs, NPs, and PAs! Not all are pediatricians either! A solid foundation and appreciation for primary/preventive care are all that’s needed!
Clinic Wrap-up
All of our patients will finish their time with us here. They will receive vitamins and any needed medications as well as important education and information on their treatment plan and follow-up
Vision
Our vision program involves screening visual acuity and collecting the information needed for vision corrections on children who can use help.
Women’s Health
Our newest program… providing essential resources and education for our female patients during their teenage years and beyond.
